7 Day Ireland Private Tour
I recently finished a 7 day tour of Ireland with 2 lovely guests from New York in the US. To say it was an enjoyable experience is probably an understatement. The following is just a brief summary of the highlights from the tour for anyone interested in booking something similar.
Pick up at your Dublin location. A deluxe journey down the M7 to our first stop at Kilkenny Medieval Castle one of Ireland’s most visited Castle’s. From here we traveled the short journey through the City to St. Canice’s Cathedral and Round Tower, Ireland’s second largest cathedral after St. Patrick’s in Dublin City. From here we then traveled to the South of Ireland to the world famous Blarney Castle where my guests got to kiss the iconic Blarney Stone.
After an overnight stay in Cork City we traveled the 90 kilometre journey to the much loved town of Killarney in Co Kerry. This was our base for the next 2 days. After touring the Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park for the day where the views where nothing short of spectacular we arrived back in the town to sample some great food and some Irish music and dancing.
After a traditional Irish breakfast we made our way to Dingle Village traveling along the scenic Dingle Peninsula making numerous photo opportunity stops. The highlights from today included a boat trip out to see the famed Fungi the dolphin, Inch Beach and a pint of Guinness in Foxy Johns Pub.
After some down time shopping in Kilarney we set off for the magestic Cliffs of Moher and Doolin Village. The Cliffs of Moher is Ireland’s most visited natural tourist attraction where the views are simply breath taking. After some lunch in the seaside village of Doolin we set of for the magical Dromoland Castle in Co. Clare. As castles go this place is the perfect Irish Castle. Here my guests enjoyed a horse drawn carriage tour of the grounds of this wonderful setting and relaxed in the tranquility of the castle spa.
After the most memorable stay at Dromoland Castle we headed for the city of culture Galway City. Here my guests enjoyed a walk through Quay St. and Eyre Square where Street Performers entertained the crowds under the sizzling summer sun. We then traveled deep into the West of Ireland and into the picturesque Connemara National Park. The views along Sky Road are out of this world and the stunning Kylemore Abbey is simply glorious.
On day 6 we drove back across the midlands to Ireland’s Ancient East. Here we toured the historic Trim Castle, the High Crosses at Monasterboice, the scenic Boyne Valley and the ancient tomb of Newgrange dated 3200BC. The overnight stay was in the heart of Dublin City in the Temple Bar Hotel.
On the last day of this amazing adventure our guests enjoyed the highlights of Dublin City. We made the short journey to Trinity College and viewed the world famous Book of Kells, visited St. Patricks Cathedral, Croke Park Museum home to our national sport Gaelic Games, sampled a pint of the black stuff at the Guinness Storehouse before finishing the evening enjoying some Irish Music in the many pubs along Temple Bar.
