Hidden Gems of Ireland

On a recent return trip to the Cliffs of Moher my amiable guests from Arizona, USA asked if I knew of any ‘hidden gems’ of Ireland that maybe close by. Without hesitation I brought them an hours drive south of the Cliffs of Moher to the charming town of Kilkee, Co. Clare. Driving along the Wild Atlantic Way passing through the most endearing villages of Lahinch, Spanish Point and Doonbeg we eventually came to the small coastal town of Kilkee & how thankful were my travelling party.

Kilkee in County Clare, is located on the rugged West coast of county Clare. The town is a particularly popular Irish seaside resort with family’s travelling from all over the country to holiday here. Kilkee and the Loop Head Peninsula also attract thousands of foreign tourists to the area annually with its breathtaking scenic walks and stunning sea cliff panoramic views as well as all the other wonderful amenities that are available in the area. The horseshoe bay is protected from the Atlantic Ocean weather by the Duggerna Reef which has in the past kept this beautiful haven safe from all the Atlantic has to offer.

We travelled along the stunning coastal road towards Loop Head stopping along the way to appreciate the true beauty of the breathtaking views where you could almost reach out and touch the waves crashing against the cliffs below. The road was isolated with only the odd car passing by in slow motion, they too, in complete awe of this phenomenal treasure.

To say my guests were ever so grateful is probably an understatement. Twas one of the ‘best days of my life’ one remarked. Another happy traveler. Another reason why I love doing what I do 🙂
